Glycolic Acid is becoming ever so popular recently with bloggers & celebrities worldwide using & loving Glycolic Skincare, including the fabulously fresh faced Kylie Jenner.
So, the main questions are: What is Glycolic Acid? Where can you find Glycolic Acid in Skincare? And why should we include Glycolic Acid in our skincare routine? Thankfully, Brand Avenue have all the answers (well some!)
- Glycolic Acid is a glorious, natural exfoliator which safely removes the dead skin cells from your skin, bringing the new and fresh skin to the surface.
- Glycolic acid is capable of penetrating deep into the cells themselves which triggers them to produce more collagen and plumps up the cells (sounds fabulous, doesn't it?). It will help in removing the fine lines and wrinkles from the skin while speeding up the cell regeneration process.
There are various products available made using the Glycolic acid, such as serums, cleansers, moisturizers, eye creams, masks and peels! One range which is easy to get your hands on and has been recognised world wide is the amazing Nip + Fab Glycolic Range. In recent months this collection has been a favourite amongst top bloggers including Rosie Connolly & celebs including Kylie Jenner - if it is good enough for Kylie, it is good enough for me!
Introducing Glycolic Skincare into your routine will make your pore appear smaller, acne reduced and your fine lines and wrinklines will begin to appear smoother. Glycolic Acid id one of the very few products which can penetrate deeper than the epidermis layer of the skin. This is highly beneficial as this is where collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, all are formed.
We only ask the questions as ALOT of make-up brush users DON'T - Yes, we were also shocked to hear so many of you lovely ladies (and men) don't regularly clean your brushes!
Thankfully, Brand Avenue have a simple, fuss free way to clean your brushes so they are Instagram worthy! (Everyone knows a dirty makeup brush can RUIN your #motd post!). More importantly, regularly cleaning your makeup brushes makes your application more hygienic and prevents the bacteria which causes breakouts from spreading. Enough jibber jabber....
Foundation, Concealer, Blush Brushes - Wash once a week
Eyeliner & Eyeshadow Brushes - Wash bi-weekly
Eyebrow & Lip Liner Brushes - Monthly
Obviously this is all depending on usage - if your brush is hard and jammed with product, you know its WAY too long since you cleaned your brushes!
- Firstly put the super nifty Brush Egg Cleaner under running water, then add some baby shampoo (or cleaner of choice).
- Gently swirl your makeup brush along the ridges of the Brush Egg to get rids of the access grime, makeup and dirt.
- Run your brush (being extra careful not to let the water run into the metal as it will loosen the hairs in the brush) under water to rinse.
- Repeat this as many time as you need for squeeky clean brushes!
- Store your brushes either upside down in the amazing Brush Tree or lying flat on a towel, once again making sure excess water does not run into the ferrule of the brush.
Contouring has taken the beauty world by storm! Achieving perfect chiselled cheekbones and perfectly highlighted features has become easier and easier as celebrity make-up artists and even celebrities have revealed their secrets.
After watching copious amounts of tutorials, we can create a flawless base in a mere few steps. The questions is, do we use cream or powder products to achieve the best result?
Firstly consider your skin type before choosing a cream or powder contour. Cream based products are better for dry skin as powder may accentuate fine lines and drynesss. Using a lightweight, cream based products will slightly hydrate your skin while creating a dewy finish.
If you have oily skin, you can achieve the best results by using powder products. Using a cream based product may accentuate oily skin while powder products can create definition in an instant.
Secondly, consider the type of finish you wish to achieve. If you are looking for light, subtle definition use a cream contour, a few shades darker than your normal foundation shade. Blend out harsh lines with the non-latex sponge to blend for a natural finish.
If you are looking for a glamorous, night time look we would recommend using the Sleek Makeup Face Form in Light/ Medium (depending on your skin tone). By using a contour powder, you can layer the product and control the depth of darkness and definition you wish to achieve.
One of the greatest things about contouring is that you can mix and match your products. You can create a long lasting finish by applying your powder product onto of your cream/ liquid product for a seamless contour.
